  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

For Cooking:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a large bowl, crack the eggs. Add the milk, Gruyère cheese, Parmesan cheese, and chives. Stir in the Dijon mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Whisk everything together until well combined.
  2. Soak the Bread: Pour the egg mixture into a shallow dish. One at a time, place a slice of bread into the egg mixture and let it soak for 30-60 seconds per side, or until saturated but not falling apart. Gently flip the bread and repeat on the other side. Remove the soaked bread and place it on a plate. Repeat with the remaining slices.
  3. Cook the Savory French Toast: Heat the olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the soaked bread slices into the skillet (don’t overcrowd).
