Main Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or parsley, chopped
- Sauté Mushrooms: Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for 8-10 minutes until they are browned and tender. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute to release its aroma.
- Add Cream Cheese and Sour Cream: Reduce heat to low. Add the softened cream cheese and sour cream to the skillet, stirring continuously until the mixture melts and becomes fully combined and creamy.
- Mix Cheeses and Seasonings: Stir in half of the shredded mozzarella cheese along with all the grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well until the dip is smooth and creamy. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Bake the Dip: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the dip. Transfer the skillet to a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C). Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly and the cheese on top turns golden brown.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the dip from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped thyme or parsley. Serve hot with your choice of bread, crackers, or veggie sticks for dipping.
Notes
- You can substitute fresh thyme with parsley or any other fresh herbs you prefer.
- Use a cast-iron skillet or any oven-safe pan for best baking results.
- For a richer flavor, consider using butter instead of olive oil for sautéing.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated gently before serving.
- Serve immediately for best texture and taste as the dip thickens upon cooling.
