This Strawberry Dessert Bruschetta is a delightful and easy-to-make treat featuring toasted sourdough bread topped with a creamy blend of cream cheese and Nutella, fresh diced strawberries, and crunchy toasted walnuts. Perfect for a quick dessert or a sweet snack, it combines rich, fruity, and nutty flavors with a crispy texture in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Toast

  • 8 1/2-inch-thick slices sourdough bread
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For the Topping

  • 4 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/3 cup Nutella hazelnut spread
  • 2 cups diced strawberries
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Toast the Bread: Brush one side of each sourdough slice with the melted butter and place them buttered side up on the prepared baking sheet. Toast in the oven for about 5 minutes until they become golden brown and crispy.
  3. Cool the Toasts: Remove the toasted bread from the oven carefully and allow them to cool completely to prevent the toppings from melting or becoming soggy.
  4. Prepare the Nutella Cream: In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese and Nutella together until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Alternatively, use a hand mixer and bowl.
  5. Assemble the Bruschetta: Spread the Nutella and cream cheese mixture evenly over each cooled toast. Then, top them generously with the diced strawberries and sprinkle with toasted chopped walnuts for crunch and flavor.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the assembled bruschetta immediately to enjoy the crispness and fresh flavors.
  7. Optional Nut Toasting: To toast walnuts on the stovetop, place them in a small sauté pan over low heat. Stir frequently until they are fragrant, approximately 3 minutes.

Notes

  • Make sure the bread is completely cooled before adding the Nutella mixture to maintain crispness.
  • Toasting walnuts enhances their flavor and crunch; do not skip this step for the best taste.
  • You can substitute sourdough bread with a baguette or other crusty bread if preferred.
  • This dessert is best served fresh to avoid sogginess.
  • Store any leftovers separately and assemble right before serving.
