Roux
- 1 teaspoon Oil
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 1/2 teaspoon Garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
Whisk Milk
- 1 1/2 cup Whole milk (1 & 1/2 cup separated )
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon Paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon English mustard
Melt Cheese
- 1.5 cups Cheddar (shredded (approx))
- Roux – Add oil, butter, and garlic to a saucepan and heat gently. Add the flour and cook while stirring for a minute.
- Whisk milk – Slowly whisk one cup of milk in to avoid lumps. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat, and cook for another minute. Remove from heat.
- Melt cheese – Stir in salt, paprika, mustard, and cheese. Whisk until melted. Add warm milk while whisking for consistency. If cheese doesn’t melt completely, add a splash of milk and heat briefly. Serve hot.
Notes
- This sauce is best served immediately while hot and fresh.
- You can adjust the spiciness by adding more or less paprika or mustard to suit your taste preferences.
