Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 sweet onion (finely diced)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced or pressed)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes w/ garlic, oregano, basil
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, garlic, and 1/2 teaspoon salt over medium-high heat until the meat is no longer pink. Remember to crumble the meat as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add Ingredients: Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, sugar, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
  3. Simmer: Bring the sauce to a low boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Let it simmer for at least 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Simmer longer for a richer flavor.
  4. Serve: Serve the sauce over hot cooked pasta. Garnish with chopped parsley and shredded parmesan cheese, if desired.
