Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread is a delicious twist on the classic sloppy joe sandwich, where the flavorful meat mixture is piled onto garlic-infused ciabatta bread and topped with a cheesy crust.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Garlic Bread:

  • 1 ciabatta loaf
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar

For the Sloppy Joe Mixture:

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ cup yellow onion (finely diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 ½ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Garlic Bread: Slice the ciabatta loaf in half lengthwise. Spread with softened butter, sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  3. Cook the Ground Beef: In a Dutch oven or skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain excess fat if needed.
  4. Prepare the Sloppy Joe Mixture: Add onion to the skillet and cook until softened. Add garlic and cook briefly. Stir in ketchup, water, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20-30 minutes, adjusting seasonings to taste.
  5. Assemble and Bake: Divide the sloppy joe mixture onto the ciabatta bread halves. Top with shredded mozzarella and cheddar. Bake for 10 minutes until golden brown. Garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

  • You can customize the cheese blend based on your preferences.
  • Adjust the seasonings of the sloppy joe mixture to suit your taste.
