Ingredients

Scale

For the Pork Chops

  • 4 boneless pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying or drizzling)

For the Parmesan Coating

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (such as oregano and basil)

For Garnish (Optional)

  • Fresh parsley (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven (if baking): Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking the pork chops.
  2. Prepare the Coating: In a shallow dish, combine the grated Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, dried Italian herbs, salt, and pepper to create the flavorful crust mixture.
  3. Prepare the Pork Chops: Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper. Then, dip each pork chop into the beaten egg, letting any excess drip off. Next, press each pork chop firmly into the Parmesan breadcrumb mixture to achieve an even coating on both sides.
  4. Cook the Pork Chops – Baking Option: Place the coated pork chops on the prepared baking sheet and drizzle lightly with olive oil. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) and the crust turns golden brown.
  5. Cook the Pork Chops – Pan-Frying Option: Heat about 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the coated pork chops and fry for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and fully cooked. Once done, remove them and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  6. Serve: Garnish pork chops with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot alongside your favorite sides such as mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a fresh salad for a complete and satisfying meal.

Notes

  • For crispier coating, use panko breadcrumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs.
  • Ensure pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) for safe consumption.
  • Oven baking is a healthier alternative to pan-frying, reducing oil usage.
  • Allow pork chops to rest for a few minutes after cooking to retain juices.
  • Fresh parsley garnish adds color and freshness but can be omitted if unavailable.
