Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 450 grams salmon fillets
  • Salt, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste

For the Glaze:

  • 120 millilitres freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch, whisked with 1 teaspoon water (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  1. Sear the Salmon – Heat butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season salmon fillets with salt and black pepper. Place fillets in the skillet, skin side up, and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until golden brown. Flip the fillets and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 63°C at the thickest part.
  2. Prepare the Glaze – Remove salmon from the skillet and set aside, covering with foil to keep warm. Reduce heat to medium. In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and cornstarch slurry if using.
  3. Cook the Glaze – Pour the orange glaze mixture into the same skillet. Allow it to simmer, stirring continuously, until the glaze is heated through and thickens, about 30 to 60 seconds if cornstarch is used.
  4. Coat and Serve – Return the salmon to the skillet and spoon the glaze over the fillets to coat evenly. Serve immediately, garnished with orange slices if desired.
