Cookie Dough:

  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup sugar

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

Jello Coating:

  • 4 3 oz. packages of jello (assorted flavors)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar; add egg and vanilla.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cream of tartar.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients in the mixer.
  5. Divide Dough: Divide the dough into four sections.
  6. Add Jello Powder: Sprinkle two tablespoons of jello onto each section and knead the dough until combined; add food coloring if desired.
  7. Shape Cookies: Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then roll in extra jello powder or sugar.
  8. Bake: Place dough on baking sheet, flatten with a glass, and bake for 8-10 minutes.
  9. Cool: Remove from pan and allow to cool on a wire rack.
