Ingredients

Scale

Gyro Seasoning Blend

  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp marjoram
  • 1 tbsp coriander
  • 1 tbsp thyme
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp Kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a small bowl, add all of the dried herbs and spices together. Mix thoroughly to ensure an even distribution of flavors.
  2. Store the Seasoning: Transfer the blended seasoning into a jar or container with a lid. Seal tightly and store in a cool, dry place at room temperature for up to 6 months.
  3. Using as a Marinade: To marinate meat, combine 1 tablespoon of the gyro seasoning with olive oil and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Place your meat of choice in a large zip lock bag, pour the marinade over it, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for deep flavor penetration.
  4. Using as a Dry Rub or Seasoning: Coat your meat evenly with the gyro seasoning. Heat olive oil in a frying pan and cook poultry to an internal temperature of 165°F or beef/pork to 145°F. For ground meats, cook fully until no longer pink, then sprinkle the seasoning over the meat and stir well to combine.

Notes

  • Store unused seasoning in an airtight container away from moisture and heat.
  • For optimal flavor, allow marinated meat to rest overnight.
  • Adjust the amount of seasoning used based on your taste preference and meat quantity.
  • This seasoning blend works well for chicken, beef, lamb, and pork.
  • Use freshly ground spices for the best aroma and flavor.
