Golden Milk Ingredients

  • 2 cups O Organics coconut milk
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch black pepper
  • Pinch freshly ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey, to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Ground cinnamon (for garnishing)

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients: In a large saucepan, over medium heat, combine the coconut milk, ground turmeric, cinnamon stick, ground ginger, black pepper, nutmeg, coconut oil, and maple syrup.
  2. Bring to a low boil: Heat the mixture until it reaches a low boil, stirring occasionally to mix the spices evenly throughout the milk.
  3. Simmer: Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer gently for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the milk to infuse with the spices.
  4. Strain mixture: After simmering, strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the cinnamon stick and any spice residue, ensuring a smooth texture.
  5. Add vanilla and adjust sweetness: Stir in the vanilla extract and taste the golden milk. Add more maple syrup or honey if a sweeter flavor is desired.
  6. Serve: Pour the golden milk into cups and garnish with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon before serving warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute the coconut milk with almond or oat milk for a different flavor profile.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more or less maple syrup or honey.
  • For a richer taste, slightly increase the amount of coconut oil.
  • This beverage is best enjoyed warm but can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated gently.
  • Adding black pepper is essential as it helps increase the absorption of curcumin, the active compound in turmeric.
