Ingredients

Scale

Sliders

  • 12 count King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 1 lb Deli Ham (Honey or Black Forest), thinly sliced
  • 8 slices Swiss Cheese

Butter Mixture

  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Poppy Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking and set aside.
  2. Slice Rolls: Without separating the rolls, carefully slice the entire slab horizontally in half. Place the bottom half evenly in the prepared baking dish to form the base.
  3. Layer Ham and Cheese: Evenly layer the thinly sliced ham over the bottom half of the rolls. Then layer the Swiss cheese slices on top of the ham, slightly overlapping to cover.
  4. Add Top Half and Prepare Butter Mix: Place the top half of the rolls back over the cheese layer. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and onion powder until well combined.
  5. Apply Butter Mixture: Pour the prepared butter mixture evenly over the top of the rolls. Use a brush to coat the tops and sides thoroughly. For best flavor absorption, let the sliders sit for 5-10 minutes if possible.
  6. Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops of the rolls are golden brown and slightly crispy.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls for their characteristic soft texture and sweetness.
  • Letting the buttery mixture soak into the rolls before baking enhances flavor and moisture.
  • Feel free to substitute Swiss cheese with cheddar or provolone based on preference.
  • To make smaller sliders, separate the rolls individually before assembly.
  • These sliders can be prepared ahead of time, refrigerated, and baked just before serving.
