4.9 from 120 reviews

This Baileys Irish Martini is a rich, creamy, and smooth cocktail blending Baileys Irish Cream, vodka, and espresso to create a grown-up mocha-flavored treat. Perfect for cozy nights, holiday toasts, or small get-togethers, it combines a luscious texture with an elegant presentation and takes just minutes to make without any fancy bar tools.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquids

  • 2 oz Baileys Irish Cream
  • 1 oz vodka (chilled)
  • 1 oz espresso (freshly brewed and cooled)

Others

  • Ice cubes (about ½ cup)
  • Optional garnish: chocolate shavings, coffee beans

Equipment

  • Martini glass (chilled if possible)
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Fine mesh strainer

Instructions

  1. Brew & Cool Your Espresso: Brew 1 oz of espresso and allow it to cool to room temperature or chill it in the fridge. This ensures that the cocktail remains cold and maintains the desired texture.
  2. Add Everything to a Shaker: Pour 2 oz Baileys Irish Cream, 1 oz vodka, and the cooled espresso into a cocktail shaker. Add about ½ cup of ice cubes to the shaker to chill the mixture thoroughly.
  3. Shake It Like You Mean It: Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the container feels very cold. This action chills the drink and creates a smooth, frothy layer on top.
  4. Strain into Glass: Use a fine mesh strainer to pour the cocktail into a chilled martini glass, removing any ice shards and creating a silky smooth texture.
  5. Garnish & Serve: Optionally garnish the martini with chocolate shavings or a coffee bean on top. Serve immediately to enjoy the freshest flavor and best frothy texture.

Notes

  • Always cool espresso before mixing to prevent watering down or warming the cocktail.
  • Shake the cocktail for at least 15 seconds to achieve the best frothy texture.
  • Use a chilled martini glass to keep the drink cold longer and enhance presentation.
  • Strain the cocktail to eliminate ice shards and improve smoothness.
  • You can substitute instant coffee for espresso by making it strong and cooling thoroughly.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, use Baileys Irish Cream Coffee Creamer and omit the vodka.
  • Prepare espresso and chill glasses ahead, but mix the drink just before serving for best taste.
